REVIEW
Halloween really set the whole slasher genre in general and is one of the many films that made me love horror movies. When I first saw the film it sent shivers down my spine. I was quite young at the time but I remember it made me think a lot and the image of Michael Myers and the white mask has stayed with me to this day. One of the most chilling features of the film is the music. Its also one of the best parts of the film. It sets the atmosphere and mood of the whole movie for me. Even though the film was made on a shoestring budget of only $300,000 and you can spot many mistakes within it, its still such a masterpiece of film. The acting by Jamie Lee Curtis and Donald Pleasence is flawless and the methodical stalking and appearance of the shape is truly haunting. The overall direction and camerawork is brilliant. An example of this is seeing the surroundings from Myers s point of view (when he wears the clown mask as a six year old to when hes stalking Laurie. Also when at the end of the film. We just see simple shots of different rooms in the house where it all happened as the theme music plays and then finally the shot of the outside of the house just as the film cuts to black. The film leaves a lot of questions unanswered and also leaves a lot of doors open for a sequel so this makes the film stay with you for a long time. Overall this is probably one of the best films I have ever seen because I was fascinated with the Michael Myers character. This film also started my interest in the horror genre especially slashers. Dark, distubing, and absolutely unforgettable. A masterpiece! 10/10
